The Word According to Lawson  

Here is a dictionary of the most colorful lawsonisms from John's works. Use these in everyday conversation, correspondence, or your own writing.

Abscondful A tendency to abscond with the possessions of others, i.e. “You’re one abscondful fascist mofo.”

Afeery Nervous tension among those who inhabit the streets; fear in the circles frequented by thugs and miscreants, i.e. “Dem fools be gettin’ damn afeery up in this bitch.”

Blar-hah Incomprehensible horror, i.e. “Blar-hah from beyond.”

Beg Worthy Someone who taxes the patience of others with incessant questions or a cloying presence, i.e. “Knowing he was beg worthy, Kathy and Don declined to invite him.”

Bloodclot One who has fouled up, i.e. “Don’t disrespect, ya bloodclot.”

Bodice Ripper A charmer; one who is favored for trysts among members of the opposite sex, i.e. “In his youth he was the neighborhood bodice ripper.”

Bombdaclot A doomed person, i.e. “Cancel Christmas, ya bombdaclot.”

Brainiac Inbreeding Intellectuals supporting each others actions and statements simply for the sake of doing so, i.e. “The current atmosphere of brainiac inbreeding has lowered the bar for students and faculty alike.”

Bunk Up To clear one’s name; to disperse misapprehensions, i.e. “He’s been disbarred? Let’s bunk that sucker up again!”

Cock-Blockism Preventing one from attaining their goals, i.e. “His cock-blockism kept the inspectors out in the cold.”

Cock-Blockticity The level of cock-blockism one displays in their behavior, i.e. “The social barometer revealed rising levels of cock-blockticity in the boardroom.”

Comeback Kid A person who is not only of nasty character but possesses a low IQ as well, i.e. “Mentioning his infidelity in his blog proved, without a doubt, he was the comeback kid of the year.”

Corporate Bully Boy One who disavows their beliefs for money; one who would take pride in referring to themselves as a lackey, i.e. “She won’t sully her hands--she’ll sic one of her corporate bully boys on the cock blockers.”

Crockery Rubbish; bovine excrement; anything untrue; untruths known to be untrue by the speaker, who more often than not realizes others also know it to be untrue, i.e. “It should be called the State of the Crockery Address.”

Crotched Debacled; gone wrong; hurt, i.e. “Man…that’s all crotched up.”

Debaclement The only kind of interaction people engage in, which is to say hellish disasters, i.e. “The homecoming dance was a debaclement.”

Disgruntly Unhappy; disapproving; morose, i.e. “After his leg was removed he was disgruntly with people, and understandably so.”

Fascist Bully Boy See Corporate Bully Boy.

Fuck Up To die, i.e. “Did you hear about Samantha? A car hit her and she fucked up!”

Fucking the World To pass waste product from one’s body, i.e. “Back in a minute, fellas. I’m gonna go fuck the world.”

Grope Worthy Worth checking out, but perhaps not too deeply, i.e. “The President’s speech wasn’t even grope worthy.”

Incendiary Rubbish Common dialog between family members that is of a most vicious variety, i.e. “After a dinner peppered with incendiary rubbish the family dispersed to enjoy a night of isolation.”

Hell Gator One who enforces archaic and draconian rules, most usually in an official capacity, i.e. “The hell gators went upside his head and did a tap-dance on his tonsils before booking him.”

Hell Licker One who takes special delight in the woes of others, i.e. “That freaky hell licker bought season tickets to the public executions.”

Hell Mangler One who meddles in the affairs of others, i.e. “Her parents, being card carrying hell manglers, kept her from finding true love.”

Hell Monger a) One who buys into Hell; everyone and anyone. b) One who causes trouble for others, i.e. “The hell mongers in the newsrooms put the President through a ringer.”

Hellion A bad person, which is to say a regular person, i.e. “There’s no way you can take note of every hellion lining the halls.”

Jowl Juice Saliva, usually running freely, i.e. “I mopped up his jowl juice with a knuckle sandwich.”

Jowlicism Quivering of the face; a facial contortion so extreme that it affects the bearer’s mind, i.e. “His oration was cut short by a jowlicism of unprecedented magnitude.”

Jowlitorium A sanatorium specializing in long-term care for those oppressed by a preponderance of jowls, slobber, jowlicisms, or a combination thereof.

Lawsonism A ridiculous word or phrase, usually incendiary in nature.

Lickable Quite good, i.e. “Having received a bonus and also Trevor’s number, Margie’s day was shaping up to be rather lickable.”

Lonesome Romeo A fellow seeking a companion for the evening, i.e. “Lonesome Romeos circled, but her lack of eardrums rendered their pickup lines impotent.”

Mad Crotch Grabbin’ Honestly; for real, i.e. “Good citizens, we will find WMDs in Iraq...mad crotch grabbin’!”

Mad Scat An unbelievable blow, i.e. “When he stepped out of the limo protesters hit him with the mad scat.”

Mad Scratchin’ As exhibited by DMX in the Herbie Hancock song “Rockit”, i.e. “Mad scratchin’ the likes of which hasn’t been heard since 1984.”

Monger A consumer; one who wastes their resources at the whim of strangers, i.e. “It’s Monger Day at the Jowl Emporium…come on down!”

Mongerism Consumerism; the system of willful serfdom, i.e. “History will note that in the age of Mongerism neither slavery nor indentured servitude were necessary to force the masses into manual labor.”

Nipple Twister One who unnecessarily provokes, harasses, or burdens others with their troubles, i.e. “I picked up the customer service hotline and was set upon by nipple twisters.”

Pan Seared Badly Beaten, i.e. “Watch out--he’s lookin’ to get some pan seared hellion.”

Snortful A good time, i.e. “The party was snortful!”

Tap Dance on the Tonsils A thorough beating, i.e. “They did a tap dance on Rodney King’s tonsils.”

Windstack A big pile of nothing, i.e. “All’s well that boils down to the size of a windstack.”
