A Brief Letter from the Editor

Welcome to the latest issue of The Dream People. I received a wide-range of material in a short time, and the issue reflects that diversity. Many of the authors and their writings were new to me, and it was a pleasure to be on the other side of publishing. Thanks to everyone who sent in some of their work.

As guest-editor, I decided to transfer some of the focus of the contents to highlight plays and scripts-- whether they were for the stage, such as "The Glass Boot" and "The Real Thane"; (an excerpt) for the screen "The NUKE Brothers"; or a comic script: "Script for Hemingway Cats Comix #1."

I’m very pleased with the end results in all the areas here-- for prose, poetry, drama, and art. There are twelve authors, but only half as many artists. In my search for art to accompany the written word, I found artists who also displayed a variety of styles, skills and contents. Rather than choosing another twelve, I decided to showcase this diversity as well. (In addition, two of the contributing authors, Hertzan Chimera, and Donna Kuhn have art in this issue.) So, if, for example, Matt Sesow’s "Bring Em Out" doesn’t grab you, then perhaps his "Passion Girls" will. Or perhaps you’ll love them both, as I do.

I hope you enjoy the issue, and remember to check out the contributors’ works outside of The Dream People, in particular Scott Carr’s "The NUKE Brothers." The movie has just been released, so check it out.
