Barbie 2000
by
David Fraser

Just bones
Paper bag skin
Eyes wide with hunger
Pouting for praise,
You not so subtly
Creep on runways,
Ruinways,
Gloss the pabulum pulp
Of pop fic and teen mag
Burst burning out
On celluloid and TV tape
Each day appear on
Apparition-like
The third page sunshine sun
Now just out of diapers
Into starving
Behaviours
Suicidal
Tendencies
Homicidal
Ragings
Of fat blood low levels.
Your head sits on a stick
Teased hair mingled
With sand and sparkles
Beach baubles
Grit
Decapitated
By the waves
Of fans
Sweet goddess
Crazed in hardbody
Illusions
Slimmed down
To a spine
The stake
Trailing entrails.
