she set a bowlful
by poetXtreme

she set a bowlful
of my words
on the table in front of me
and poured herself
a cup of coffee

I looked at them
and said, these words are dry
do we have any milk?
she took the milk carton
and emptied the last few drops
into her coffee
nope, she said, we're all out

I put one of my words
on my tongue
these are unsweetened, I said
do we have any sugar?
she picked up the sugarbowl
and poured the last granule
into her cup
nope, she said, we're all out

staring at the bowlful of my words
then at her
I said, no milk and no sugar
how am I supposed to eat my words?
she couldn't camouflage
the disgust in her voice
as she said, you're the monster
you figure it out
